Workspace is a macOS productivity app that lets you save everything on your computer screen and reload it at a different time and place.

Background

Digital work setups vary from person to person, and project to project. Each setup is tailored to your system preferences, customizations, application windows, shortcuts, tools, libraries. etc.

Inspiration

Workspace was originally created for my fellow SVA design & advertising student peers who live in the Digital Imaging Center (computer lab) as nomads from computer to computer each time a class comes into the room and we get kicked out.

We would endure the ongoing battle of closing everything on our screens, losing our customized settings/tools, finding a new computer, setting everything back up, resuming into work-mode, and then mentally preparing ourselves to pick up everything and flee again in just the matter of time.

The icon iteration process was built off the concept of saving, loading, and accessing different workspaces onto one computer, and being able to load your workspace on any computer.

After interviewing students about their thoughts on the current school system, I discovered insights and key principles that helped bring me to my final product concept.
